Julia & Adam, Wedding at Callippe Preserve Golf Course

Julia and Adam's October wedding was a joy to shoot! I was a second shooter for Marci of Mars Takes Photos, who is a documentary-style wedding photographer based in Salt Lake City. Marci's initial outreach was so warm and inviting, making it an easy decision for me to collaborate with her.

The day began at Julia's ministry house that she shares with her sisters from church. After spending some time with her and her sisters as they got ready, we headed to Joaquin Miller Park in Berkeley for couple photos, as Julia was hoping for a place to emulate feeling small against nature.

We then went to the main wedding venue for the day: the Callippe Preserve Golf Course in Pleasanton. Many of Julia and Adam's friends helped set up the venue, which was tastefully decorated with florals and signage designed by none other than Julia herself (she is a designer!). Honestly, I have never fallen so hard for a font like the font on Julia's signage. If she sold it, I would buy it and plaster it all over my website.

The entire wedding was just full of laughter, and sweet moments. My favorite moment was Julia’s dad’s speech, in which he warned Adam, “My daughter is always right. I would know, I’m her dad”. Way to go dad!

During the reception, many of the friends had created videos (e.g. how do you know if Adam’s around?) and performed songs. I teared up during Julia’s brother’s speech, in which he claimed that he was bittersweet about no longer being the most important man in Julia’s life (literally this entire wedding is just full of good laughs). The couple even hopped over on on Zoom to greet Adam’s family who was watching the wedding all the way over from Asia.

And to top it all off, the food was AMAZING. The food was honestly the best I’ve ever had at a wedding. If you ever go to a wedding at the Callippe Golf Course, load up on the pesto and chicken ;) At the end of the night, Julia and Adam chose to serve a pastry selection, which I am seeing more and more common in lieu of a traditional wedding cake. And who can resist! My favorite was the egg tart - I still think about it from time to time.

My best wishes to you Julia and Adam on your new journey as husband and wife!
