Hana and Tyler’s wedding at Half Moon Bay Golf Links had everything I love about photographing weddings – stunning coastal views, genuine emotion, and deeply personal details that told their unique love story.
A Half Moon Bay Wedding with Ocean Views
Half Moon Bay Golf Links sits right on the coast, with sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean and that perfect Northern California coastal light. The ceremony took place on the lawn with the ocean as their backdrop – you really can’t ask for better than that.
What made this venue work so well for Hana and Tyler’s day was how the indoor and outdoor spaces flowed together. Ceremony on the lawn, cocktail hour with those views, and reception inside where everyone could actually hear the toasts and celebrate without the coastal wind.
The Details That Made This Wedding Theirs
It should come as no surprise that my favorite details are the deeply personal ones.
We began the day with a surprise scrapbook moment with the bridal party – one of those sweet, emotional moments that sets the tone for everything to come.
The ceremony itself was perfectly sunny, with Hana making her entrance to Taylor Swift and the newlyweds recessing to “Miracles Happen” from the Disney Channel. Yes, a Disney Channel happy ending, and it was exactly right for them.
The wedding cake was made by Hana’s mom and topped with a pair of puffins – puffins are known to be lifelong lovers, which feels like the most perfect wedding cake topper symbolism. They incorporated a lion dance and Indomie to celebrate Hana’s Chinese Indonesian heritage. And the drink stirrers? Featured their cat Miso.
These are the kinds of details I get excited to photograph – not just pretty things, but things that actually mean something to the couple.
Celebrating with Their People
Hana and Tyler made it clear from the start that their wedding was about celebrating with everyone who showed up for them. The dance floor energy was incredible – you can see in the photos how much joy there was in that room.
This is what happens when couples prioritize the experience and being present with their guests. The celebration becomes less about perfect moments and more about genuine connection.
Photographing Weddings at Half Moon Bay Golf Links
The coastal location gives you so many options for portraits – dramatic ocean views, interesting architectural elements, that golden California light. But what makes it special is how the venue supports the actual celebration. Good flow, beautiful spaces, and a team that knows what they’re doing so couples can focus on enjoying their day.
Congratulations to Hana and Tyler! Thank you for sharing your love story with us all. It was an honor to document the beginning of your next chapter.

Hi! Beautiful photos and wedding. What time of year was this? Looks sunnier than usual for HMB.
Hi Danielle! It was mid September, but I think we did get very lucky on this day. The groom golfed on the course a couple days before the wedding and he said it was rainy/misty!
