Rodeo Beach, an ideal locations for Marin family sessions
When Cece reached out about doing a Mother’s Day beach session with her son Ethan, I knew exactly where to take them. Since they were traveling down from San Francisco and had summery outfits planned, Rodeo Beach in the Marin Headlands was perfect.
As a Marin family photographer, I’m obsessed with this spot for family sessions. The evening light there is just magical. As the sun starts to set, it bathes the whole of Rodeo Beach in a gorgeous, soft glow that makes everyone look amazing. The location in Marin, just over the Golden Gate Bridge, also offers practical advantages: fewer crowds than San Francisco beaches, ample parking, and paved walkways for children who prefer to avoid the sand (along with plenty of driftwood logs for natural seating).
My favorite moments from this session
Watching Cece and Ethan together was so sweet. Ethan has this quiet, thoughtful way of taking in everything around him, and Cece just follows his lead, seeing the world through his eyes. He brought along his favorite little train, and honestly, those shots of kids with their beloved toys? Those are the photos that become absolutely priceless as the years go by.
