Family photos at Filoli, Khong and Linna

Khong and Linna are photographers based in Sacramento, and reached out to me to get some updated family photos at the Filoli Historic Estate and Gardens in Woodside. They have two children - Chenchi and Yenchi - who are the most adorable pair of siblings. Linna has been wanting to get family photos done at Filoli for a while, so we had to make it happen! Plus, being chosen by another photographer to get updated family photos was an honor in and of itself. The family wore matching, neutral outfits, fit for the upcoming summer break. The colors, as well as the tone and saturation, all matched well together without seeming too coordinated. Next to location, clothes are such an important choice when it comes to determining the vibe and concept of your photo session. After every booking, I send my clients a wardrobe guide with examples of different palettes that work well for photoshoots, as well as textures and fabrics that I recommend avoiding for optimal photographic results.

The Lee family had fun strolling around the gardens. With each set of backgrounds at Filoli, we nailed a variety of poses and pairings — from the posed family photos to the candid moments in between. Towards the end of the photoshoot, Khong mentioned to me that this was the first time in which photos with their kids have worked out. I was so thrilled to hear that, since I know it can be hard to schedule out the time to refresh family photos, organize outfits, and drive to a session. I’m so glad that Khong and Linna chose me to capture their family, and I look forward to meeting them as return clients in the future.
