Marshall’s Beach Engagement Photos, San Francisco - Angela & Alex

Angela and Alex are one of those super organized people that we all aspire to become. They contacted me soon after getting engaged. They met in and have grown their relationship as neighbors in San Francisco, and so it was only appropriate that their engagement photos boast various charms unique to this city — coastal vibes, beautiful sunsets, and the Golden Gate Bridge. In fact, from the beginning, Angela knew that she wanted a beach photoshoot at golden hour just before sunset. Amongst the various beaches in San Francisco, we ended up choosing Marshall’s Beach for their engagement photos.

I especially love Marshall Beach on sunny, bright days due to the excellent opportunities for backlighting. At locations like Baker Beach, there’s almost no cover, meaning that harsh, directional light can make for a difficult situation. However at Marshall’s Beach, there are large rocks that block the setting sun ever so slightly, which means less squinting for my clients!

Marshall’s Beach is however quite a hike down, but we were all prepared for the trek! Angela and Alex came prepared with sneakers for the hike, and we chatted the entire way down, getting to know each other a little better and build up rapport so that they would feel comfortable in front of the camera. Once we reached the beach, Angela and Alex went barefoot for all the photos (which I actually recommend for this beach). I also wore my rain boots so that I could get in the water with them for some toe-dipping action shots.

This might easily rank within the top 5 most picturesque engagement photoshoots I’ve ever done in San Francisco. Angela’s sweeping white dress created organic shapes, especially when backlit with the setting sun. Alex and Angela were also so playful, willing to get in the water, and try a bunch of different poses. And Marshall’s Beach was just so, so beautiful that day.

Congratulations on your engagement Angela and Alex and best of luck planning your East Coast wedding!
